Age Friendly Herkimer County Resources

How did this program get started?

Age-Friendly Herkimer County began in 2019, when the Herkimer County Office for the Aging received a planning grant to bring together local partners around a shared goal: making Herkimer County a better place to age.

Since then, the initiative has moved through community surveys, listening sessions, and focus groups involving hundreds of residents, all to better understand what older adults in our county need most. That work led to a countywide Action Plan, developed with input from local organizations, businesses, and community members, and approved by the Herkimer County Legislature in 2025.

Today, we’re in the implementation phase, turning that plan into real programs and progress across all eight domains.
